Johnson, a defensive end, suffered the injury during last Friday's 31-24, season-opening loss to Temple.

"He's done for the year, which is tough for us because we're going to have to play some really young people in the defensive front," said Wildcats head coach Andy Talley, whose defense uses a 3-3-5 alignment.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound Johnson started all 15 games in 2009 and finished with 26 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.

Johnson's injury should increase the playing time of redshirt freshman Rakim Cox, who had three tackles, including a sack, against Temple.
